Traditional rulers under the aegis of Boripe Traditional Council in the State of Osun have thrown their weight behind the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the gubernatorial election slated for September 22, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola.
Addressing pressmen at Iragbiji, the capital of Boripe Local Government on Tuesday, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Rasheed Ayotunde, flanked by three other monarchs, namely: the Olona of Ada, Oba Abimbola Abioye, the Alaagba of Aagba, Oba Rufus Ogunwole, the Olororuwo of Ororuwo, Oba Qamarudeen Alawode debunked the alleged rumour that Oyetola did not hail from the town.
Oba Ayotunde described the APC standard bearer as an illustrious son of the town and a philanthropist, adding that his contributions to the development of the area could not be over-emphasised.
He noted that the wealth of experience of Oyetola coupled with his financial expertise put him in a right footing to perform beyond expectation if elected.
“We are using this medium to assert that Gboyega Oyetola is neither a Lagosian nor a foreigner as some people are saying. He has been a community man playing active roles in the development of this community and Osun State at large.
“Such insinuations are just the figment of imagination of those peddling it, we know him as a man of impeccable character whose kindness is unprecedented.
“We have interviewed his family background, his neighbours, friends and acquaintances; and found him the most qualified to take the state to greater heights.
“We affirm that Oyetola will address the challenges of workers’ salaries and restate that no single worker would be retrenched.
“We hereby appeal to all aggrieved members of APC to resolve their differences for the purpose of peace, and place the interest of the party above all others considerations,” the monarch added.
