In less than 6 days, the good people of Osun will decide who would succeed Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and continue the good works that kicked off across the state in the last 8 years, and as the day draws nearer, various media firms, both TV and Radio stations have organized debates, talk shows to give the citizens a chance to listen to the aspirants’ plans for the coming election. And with these debates four major characters has consistently showed their true colours. With the intent of seeing how well you can identify them, their names would be left out of the article.
The Experienced
The popular saying, “Experience is the best teacher” has remained relatable in our society because of how true it is, and here is how this contestant got the support of the people of Osun. Leaving his strong knowledge of the affairs of the state aside, this contestant has won the hearts of both young and old by showing up at various debates and interviews with the best insights yet from all the other aspirants. Not only does he have a great delivery during these shows, his respect for the things already done by the outgoing administration has given the people of Osun a ray of hope that the projects which they benefit from, would continue and in some aspects be improved upon. If he was an animal, the people would call him a Lion, the leader in the jungle.
The Desperate
Imagine the shock the people of Osun got when a certain contestant moved from party to party just so he could become an aspirant for the coming election. The desperation has struck fear in the people of Osun as to why he has made it a point of duty to fight for a position that he had closely operated in which created no change or improved the life of the people. During a certain debate, when he was asked if he was desperate, this certain aspirant had shot himself in the foot by saying he wasn’t desperate hence his moving to another party that would make him their candidate. In a recent BBC debate, he had also showed up justifying his reason for coming almost to the end of the program leaving the people of Osun wondering if this candidate would justify every bad decision he would take if he was ever in a position of power. He also goofed when he revealed his overconfidence while at an interview saying he was the most popular aspirant in the state when none of his rallies has pulled half as much crowd as THE EXPERIENCED. This contestant has over time showed he lacks intent and is desperate for power.
THE Cheat
Before the people of Osun knew he was a cheat, the major problem the people had with him was the fact that he was a terrible follower. To be a good leader one must be a good follower and he has showed that he cannot follow if he doesn’t stand to benefit. Interview however showed that he has a good degree in cheating during ‘Skype interview’. Social media users in the state were able to detect this during an interview with Channels where the end showed him trying hard to read from something while the presenter was rounding up. Not only was he void of content during another interview, he completely failed at giving a reason why he now stood against the present administration which he held a strong position until the party primaries result brought a better, more experienced member as their choice. Although the people know that a selected few might stand by him, these few have disappeared knowing that his political relevance is fast crumbling in the state following his performances at various debates and political outings.
The Coward
He got this close because of the bais of his brother’s death, and this made him believe he could dance his way into power with no content. Not only did he lie about being sponsored by the richest man in Africa, he also is currently battling the issue of his lack of WAEC certificate in court with his fellow party mates who also feel he is not a good enough representation. Moving to the issues of debates and public speaking, our award winning dancer has been declared always missing from any opportunity to prove himself as an eligible candidate. He was absent for it all, radio shows, interviews, debates which has initiated this name that might stay glued on the uncle of a famous young man.
