The former Commissioner for Finance and chieftain of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Osun state, Dr Wale Bolorunduro has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Bolunduro, who announced his defection via his Facebook page said his decision to go back to his former party was to make his grandfather happy in his grave.

According to the former Commissioner, “I have changed my mind and return to my Party, All Progressive Congress, APC, I believe this is the path I must thread to make my grandfather happy in his grave. He left the comfort of elitist ILESA people to practice his progressive politics in Ere Ijesa, his homestead, which he joined others to develop.”

“Whatever the enemy must have used to divide us does not matter in the National Youth Service of the humongous damage or relics of 2018 Gubernatorial election in Ijesa land. If we continue to deceive or delude ourselves that “mo kan ti t’efe inu mi’ like an old Ijesa man will say, we may be heading towards a political disaster in ijesaland or may be writing a terrible history for our future generation of politicians and elites. Therefore, we must think about it and quickly rethink our way back to the virtuous path of mainstream progressive.

“When we defeated PDP in 2014 Osun Gubernatorial election by about 105,000 vote difference, the six local governments in Ijesa zone contributed over 35,000 to that difference. Unlike what we have in 2018 governorship election as follows:
Ijesaland:
ADP 6’862. (5.9%)
APC 46’140 (40.1%)
PDP 48’117 (41.8%)
SDP 13’910 (12.2%)
Total votes 115’029

“We are human and we are not God, even God has had to change His mind at times. God did that over the case of King Hezekiah in the bible, the King was supposed to die but God had a rethink over his case and granted him additional fourteen years on earth (Jeremiah 26:19).”

“Also, the LORD changed His mind about the harm which He said He would do to His people in the book of Exodus, chapter 32, verse 22.”

“I have changed my mind and return to my Party, All Progressive Congress, APC, I believe this is the path I must thread to make my grandfather happy in his grave. He left the comfort of elitist ILESA people to practice his progressive politics in Ere Ijesa, his homestead, which he joined others to develop.”

“The battle to restore the ijesas to the path of progress must start now and I offer myself for this tendency. It must start with me, in my federal constituency, Ijesa North and throughout IJESALAND. The Bibiire ethos demands for this rebirth.”

“We have made history as the first political zone to have produced a two-term governor, he has tried his best to give back the dividends of democracy to us in IJESALAND, we are better off than we were under the pdp led administration. Our road networks in ILESA and other Ijesa towns, our water system under construction, etc. It is normal we feel it is not enough. Yes, it can’t be enough but we must appreciate the history, our fathers were in NCNC in the 1950s because that was the party, where our national heroes and Ijesa elites were then.”

“Today, Rauf Aregbesola is in APC, as our flagship and political anchor, we must follow him, without loosing our principle of saying “Hinle Awe, we think we may be wrong following this path, but we will still follow you”. That is what we are known for as ijesas, to challenge him to do more for us and to jointly take responsibility as his followers. He has promised to dualize our Ereja- Imo road, to use his federal link to attract federal institutions to IJESALAND. I believe he is well positioned politically and socially to do these, even after his tenure as a governor, if we continue to support him and put him in a position, where he can do more to serve us.”

Thank you.
Signed: Dr Wale Bolorunduro
