Pregnant Woman Bathed With Hot Water Forgives Assailant

A middle aged pregnant woman, Rukayat Lukman has sought the mercy of an Osogbo Magistrate on her assailant, who is also her tenant after bathing her with hot water mix with pepper during a little quarrel.
While pleading with the court to forgive her attacker, Semiyat Azeez, 24, she disclosed that the family had pleaded with her and she has forgiven her completely.
She told the court that she has filed an application before the court asking for the matter to be withdrawn in the interest of peace.
But the presiding magistrate, Mrs M. A. Awodele disclosed that even when the victim had filed an application for withdrawal, it is absurd that a lady could bath a fellow pregnant woman with hot water without considering the consequences.
She requested to see the suspect’s parents during the next adjourned date with a view to know their influence on their daughter before dismissing the matter.
The suspect had been arraigned before the court on November 23, 2018 for pouring hot water on her victim thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable under section 337 of the criminal code cap 34 VOL.II law of Osun State Nigeria 2003.
The charge sheet also disclosed that this action caused injury on her victim maliciously by applying hot water on her and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 335 of the criminal code cap 34 VOL.II law of Osun State Nigeria
Semiyat was arrested on November 16, 2018 at about 8pm at Alapupu area of Okinni in Osun State.
The case was adjourned to December 21, 2018 for ruling on the matter.
