As Osun state Governorship Election Petition Tribunal is set to deliver its judgment on the September 22, 2018 governorship election in the state, there are array of reactions from different quarters .
The Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke, had challenged the victory of the All Progressives Congress flag bearer, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, and the reason why members of socio-political groups, Asiwaju Grassroot Foundation (AGF) and Giomania will on Thursday organise a special prayer for Governor Oyetola’s victory at the Tribunal.
The groups made this known in a statement jointly signed by their state Coordinators, Comrade Sikiru Tijani and Aremo Abdul Lateef Adegboyega which was made available to newsmen in Osogbo, the Osun State capital on Wednesday.
They both enunciated that the decision to organise the prayer came on the heel of the love they have for Osun state and the need for continuity of good governance in the state.
They said members of AGF and Giomania group would converge at old Muslim prayer ground, opposite Osogbo Local Government Secretariat to pray for the victory of Governor Gboyega Oyetola at the Tribunal come Friday.
“The organization of this prayer became imperative because we cannot afford to take the state which has been experiencing monumental development in the last eight years back to abject poverty and penury.
“Our prayer will surely be answered because God is not unjust God. We believe in efficacy of prayer and since we are on the right side of justice, victory is guaranteed.
“We believe so much in our party and we are very optimistic that the Tribunal judgement will favour us. The people of Osun have spoken through their votes , they turned out massively during the gubernatorial election to elect Governor Oyetola, so there is no cause for alarm.
“Before the inception of the immediate past Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the state economy has been in comatose, but when APC led government came to power, the state begin to develop tremendously.
Expected at the special prayer according to the groups coordinators are the party Chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun, Party Secretary, Alhaji Rasaki Salinsile, the two Senators-elect , National Assembly members-elect, State Assembly members-elect among others.
They therefore, urged the APC loyalists to remain calm saying they would sure dance to the tune of victory come Friday.
