Osun Tourism Board Set To Boost Internally Generated Revenue
The Ministry of Home Affairs, Culture and Tourism, Osun is set to improve the state’s IGR.
Supervisor for Tourism, Culture and Home Affairs Dr. Obawale Adebisi disclosed this at Governor’s office, Abeere while presenting a proposal on Osun Tourism policy to the Governor with the theme “Tourism for Sustainable Economy”.
Dr. Obawale opined that the basic principles of the policy is to further boost the local economy with a vision to make tourism the bedrock of the economy.
He also added that the policy will harmonize institutional framework and increase tourist traffic intensity, plus promotion of ethical tourism industry, achieve economic growth and above all reintegration of Yoruba race which is the focus of “Karele Oodua” for culture and other benefits.
” The policy will redefine state cultural and tourism institutions and increase Revenue for the state. The proposal also aim to improve transit infrastructures” he added.
He stressed that “among the tourist attraction sites aimed at developing are Apomu Slave market, Ayinkunnugba waterfall, Erin-ijesa waterfall, Olumirin Waterfall among others”.
Responding, the Governor, State of Osun, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola commends the committee for their views to promoting the state’s IGR, adding that places like Barbados and Kenya lives on Tourism.
He said “The good thing about tourism is that it is natural. It’s God given natural resources”.
“You’ve done so very well. Put it together and let’s start marketing it locally and internationally”.
Governor Oyetola stressed that things like this are better done in partnership to really achieve it’s aims and objectives of increasing the state’s Internal Generated Revenue imploring them to let the pricing reasonable and volume driven.
