CRIME: Agent Accuses Tenant Of Threat To Life, Police Of Bias

A real estate agent (popularly known as
Caretaker), Mr Kayode Ogundiran has
alleged a threat to his life, following several attacks from one of his clients, Mr Oluwaseun Gbejoand his wife.
Ogundare accused Oluwaseun of attempting to stab him after attacking him in his office at his office around Fakunle on October 24, 2019.
In a petition to the Commissioner of Police, MrsAbiodun Ige, Ogundare through Alabi&Egbetunde&co, his lawyers, stated that Oluwaseun and some suspected hoodlums he brought unleashed punches on him, tore his clothes and dragged him on bare floor at his office, among other attacks.
The petition stated that Oluwaseun, the suspected hoodlums and Ogundare were arrested during the attack by a team of mobile policemen on patrol, who arrested and handed over them to officers of Dugbe Police Station.
However, the case took another dimension as the Divisional Police Officer allegedly colluded with the couple after an hour of discussion to change the perspective of the case.
The real estate agent claimed to have been denied of writing a statement as the complainant and that he should provide the sum of N100, 000 as part of the rent for the clients he accused of violently attacking him.
Investigation by OSUN DEFENDER revealed that the couples had called Oguniran on phone on more than two occasions to complain that their apartment was being burgled by thieves, with a demand that he should ensure that fence wire was mounted on the fence.
Ogundiran’s response to the demand of the couple was said to be unpleasing to them as he reportedly told them that he is not the owner of the house, and that they should report the case of burglary to the police.
Following his response, the couple allegedly resorted to threatening Ogundiran on phone on October 23, 2019.
The petition which was received at the Office of the Commissioner of Police on November 4, 2019 reads: “That our client was called on the 23rd day of October, 2019 by Mr and Mrs Oluwaseun and they started threatening to ruthlessly deal with our client whenever they lay their hands on him.
“In the actual sense of it, out client took their threats for granted but this turned out to be one of the greatest mistake of his life.
“That the ‘evil couple’ invaded the business premises of our client at Fakunle on the 24th day of October, 2019 at about 7:30pm and dragged him out of his office and gave him the beatings of his life to the extent that our client eventually fainted.
“That on the 2nd of November, at about 8am, Mr and Mrs Oluwaseun mobilized deadly hoodlums to attack our client again in his office premises and was again beaten mercilessly. Mr Oluwaseun personally brought out a dagger to stab our client but fortunately for him, the Mobile Police at Orita Olaiya, Osogbo intervened and rescue our client.”
OSUN DEFENDER gathered on Monday that the suspects have been arrested by the police on November 14.
