The State of Osun House of Assembly has suspended plenary for a period of two weeks as part of efforts towards combating the spread of COVID-19.
This was contained in a press release issued by Hon. Kunle Akande, the Chairman of the House Committee on Information.
The short recess became necessary to enable members take a break from the rigour of long legislative activities and also assist their constituents in post-COVID-19 economic efforts geared at making their lives better.
Akande said “The State House of Assembly under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye, in strict compliance with WHO and State Government protocols on the containment of the coronavirus, has also ordered the fumigation and immediate disinfection of the Assembly complex. “
“This is a proactive step targeted at curtailing the spread of the coronavirus disease within the House of Assembly complex. ” he said.
“While we underscore the importance of the legislature in a Democratic setting, we’ve allowed essential administrative work and personnel to run upon disinfection of the premises.”
The House however advised the people of the State to consider using the recently deployed e-parliament platforms in getting across to the Assembly during the recess period.
