INEC Loses Staff To A Fatal Accident
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has confirmed that it has lost three of its staff in a fatal road accident in Borno State.
In a statement made available to journalists on Monday by Barr. Festus Okoye, the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voters Education Committee of the Commission listed names of the three staff that lost their lives .
The following are the listed made available; Adamu Mohammed (Electoral Officer, Biu LGA), Abubakar Hamma Joda and Suleiman Umar (Assistant Electoral Officers AEOs, Damboa LGA).
Okoye told Journalists that the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the state, Mr. Mohammed Magaji and others who involved in the accident were traveling to Maiduguri for a special training ahead of the conversion polling units.
The Commission had last week kick started a nationwide train-the-trainers workshop in Abuja, that mandates Heads of Operations and Departments of all the States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to attend.
Okoye said, “The three staff died in the course of national assignment. While praying for the best in repose of their souls, the Commission extends its condolence to their families and wishes the injured staff speedy recovery”.
