Senator Opeyemi Bamidele representing Ekiti Central in the National Assembly has thrown his hat into the ring in his quest to contest the governorship primaries of the APC holding early next year.
Bamidele who is the Chairman of Southern Senators Forum notified the senators elected on the platform of All Progressive Congress about his intention to contest the 2022 governorship election in Ekiti State.
In a letter to the APC senators dated December 5, 2021, Bamidele claims he has what it takes to lead Ekiti State, having served in the legislative, executive, and judicial arms of government in the country.
According to him, “I have what it takes to lead Ekiti State in such a peculiar time like this, following my over 35 years in various leadership positions and brilliant exposure in the three arms of government.
“ I have served my country within the judicial, executive, and the legislative arms of government.
“I am a lawyer, a three-term cabinet member of the Lagos State government operating in the executive and as an elected member of the House of Representatives and distinguished Senator.
“By the grace of God, I will be a round peg in a round hole if allowed to serve as governor and the Ekiti people will be better for it”.
