The newly sworn-in Deputy National Chairman (South) of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Amb. Taofeek Arapaja has assured that the new PDP administration would be selfless and meticulous in presenting flag-bearers that could win in all the elections, beginning with the 2022 Ekiti and Osun States governorship elections as well as the 2023 general elections.
Arapaja made the remarks at a special inauguration dinner organized in his honour in Abuja by the notable members of the PDP from the South.
In his words, the Deputy National Chairman said, “The power at the center belongs to us. Nigerians are looking up to us as credible alternatives to the All Progressive Congress. We have started the journey to the villa on a good note, and I beseech every one of us to be more dedicated to this cause of winning back Nigeria for the betterment of Nigerians. This is a task that is worthy of a pledge from us all.
“The most important thing to me is winning in our elections; not just being there as a figurehead officer. To this end, I shall dispense all weapons at my disposal to justify the confidence reposed in me.”
In his own remarks, the minority leader of the House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu, Democratic Party, Amb. Taofeek Arapaja, to take urgent steps to reunite members of the party, especially in the South West to reposition the party to take over power come 2023.
Elumelu appealed at a special inauguration dinner organized in Arapaja’s honour in Abuja, on Wednesday.
The Minority Leader specifically urged Arapaja to use his office to foster inclusiveness in the South-West and reconcile aggrieved members ahead of Osun and Ekiti governorship elections.
According to Elumelu, “Come 2023, we want to see the Southwest takeover by PDP. How are we going to get that done? It is for you (Arapaja) to take an urgent step toward uniting the Southern PDP.
“It is a good assignment and it will be rigorous, but God that gave you this position knows that you have all that it takes to accomplish it.
“Any time you call us, we’ll be there to see that unity that is required from Southern Nigeria is attained during your leadership.”
