A Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo, State of Osun, has convicted five men brought before it for impersonation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) Ibadan Zonal Office.
This was made known through a statement signed by the EFCC Head, Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, and made available to newsmen on Thursday.
The statement revealed that all the defendants pleaded guilty to the one-count charge and were convicted.
The accused, Waris Adeyemo, Ahmed Abiona, Owoade Elijah, Oriade Oluwatobiloba, and Usman Shehu, were brought before Justice Nathaniel Ayo-Emmanuel.
Justice Ayo-Emmanuel in his judgment sentenced Abiona, Adeyemo and Shehu to four months jail term each, while Elijah bagged three months term.
Oluwatobiloba was sentenced to five months imprisonment.
The statement further revealed that, “Oluwatobiloba was to restitute his victim the sum of $590. He was equally ordered to forfeit an iPhone XR, one Samsung S5 mobile phone and one Acer Laptop to the Federal Government of Nigeria.
“Abiona is to restitute to one Michael Johnson the sum of $500 and further forfeit N3, 013,007.39 found in his bank account, an iPhone 11 Pro Max mobile phone and one Toyota Camry car to the Federal Government of Nigeria, being proceeds of crime.
“Adeyemo was ordered to return $300 to one Peter Decker and forfeit one iPhone 11 Pro Max to Federal Government of Nigeria.
“Shehu is to restitute his victim $400 and forfeit one Samsung Galaxy S8 to Federal Government of Nigeria. Elijah was ordered to restitute his victim $300 and forfeit an iPhone 6 mobile phone to the Federal Government of Nigeria.”
