Osun Lawmaker Escapes Assassination As IleriOluwa Groups Clash During Rally
The lawmaker representing Ayedire, Iwo and Ola-Oluwa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Yinusa Amobi was nearly assassinated by suspected political thugs during a campaign for Governor Adegboyega Oyetola’s second term in office.
Speaking to newsmen, the lawmaker told newsmen that the incident occurred when he was on a Constituency tour to ward meetings in Ayedire local government.
Hon. Amobi Akintola said it was during the political event that some people he claimed were sponsored by a politician in Ile-Ogbo including the Caretaker Chairman, Ayedire local government, Engr. Adejare, Otunba Oladejo, Supol Ajani, Dele Nafiu popularly called Adasoti mobilised hoodlums led by one Nureni Ajagbe to disrupt the meeting at Kuta ward 2 with dangerous weapons.
Hon. Amobi expressesed shock that many of the supporters of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola were injured with a number of his aides being hospitalised as a result of gunshot and machete wounds.
The federal lawmaker called on the concerned stakeholders, royal fathers and security personnel to swing into action to curtail the situation.
Expressing sadness over the incident, the Olowu of Kuta, Oba Hammed Oyelude Makama III, stated that the attack on Hon. Yinusa Amobi, his aides and supporters of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola is condemnable.
The frontline royal father described those behind the devilish action as enemy of progress, calling on security operatives to swing into action.
One of the victims of the attack told newsmen, “We were made to understand that we can not do anything as they have support of Engr. Adeleke Olanrewaju (aka) peculiar consult who installed Adejare Adigun as Council chairman in Ayedire local government main council.”
Hon. Amobi and Oba Oyelude called on perpetrators of the evil act to embrace peace as the development of the community and Osun state should be paramount.
They called on security agents to swing into action without delay and bring anybody culpable in the dastardly act to book without further delay.
