President Muhammadu Buhari, has met with governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) behind closed doors.
The President also met with the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
It was gathered that Buhari met with the APC governors, the leadership of the National Assembly and presidential aspirants of the ruling party last night.
In a chat with The Punch, a source at the APC secretariat said the meeting bordered on talks around the coming primaries and the need for consensus.
The APC chieftains said the outcome of the meeting with the President would determine the direction of the primaries and how to choose the party’s presidential candidate.
“Baba seems to be travelling too much these days. It is hard to tell whether that is also part of his strategy to avoid giving in to some unusual demands ahead of the primaries,” he said.
He further stated that the APC governors met late last night at the Kebbi Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja to discuss the party’s upcoming special convention.
The APC member hinted that Buhari also met with the presidential aspirants for the second time in a month.
