The suspected killers of Chief Oladepo Asaolu, Babaloja of Ora-Igbomina, Sunday Johnson and Obisesan Amos popularly known as “Ibadan”, have revealed why they killed him.
The suspects confessed why speaking to newsmen in Osogbo on Tuesday, the State capital, Johnson said himself and Amos connived together to kill Asaolu, he said though the deceased gave him his farm land free of charge.
The suspects confessed that, they killed the victim in order to inherit his farm land.
According to him, “I decided to kill him. Though, he gave me his farm land to be using it free of charge. I used cutlass to kill him because I want to take full ownership of the farm.
“I carried him on my motorcycle in the morning around 5am. I told him we were going to the farm, meanwhile I have informed my second to get ready, as we got to the bush, I pushed him away and later removed his cutlass from his bag and stabbed him in his chest.”
Asked what was the offence of the deceased committed before he decided to kill him, Johnson said he (Asaolu) did not offend him.
However, autopsy result revealed that the deceased was stabbed in the heart.
According to Police, it was the suspects who led Police Detectives to Akisa forest where the victim was killed and dumped.
As at the of filing this report, police are yet to complete their investigation. They however assured that once the investigation is completed, the suspects will be charged to court.
