The newly appointed Akinrun of Ikirun, headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government area of the State of Osun, Oba Yinusa Olalekan Akadiri, is yet to access the palace, a week after his appointment.
Findings by OSUN DEFENDER revealed that the new monarch has been unable to gain entry to the palace, seven days after his appointment and coronation.
It was gathered that as of the time of filing this report, the gate to the palace is still locked and barricaded with iron objects.
Some spiritual objects and sacrifices were also put at the entrance of the palace, with a warning that if anybody dares to enter the palace, he/she will immediately die.
It would be recalled that the State Government of Osun had last Thursday approved the appointment of Akadiri, and other 10 new monarchs across the state.
However, Akadiri’s appointment has continued to generate protests both in Ikirun and on social media.
Immediately after his appointment, angry indigenes of the town went to the streets, creating bonfires as well as chanting songs to register their grievances over the development.
The situation took the intervention of security agents including the Amotekun corps, local vigilante and the Police, to forestall total breakdown of law and order in the community.
OSUN DEFENDER who visited Ikirun, yesterday observed that most residents of the town are at alert and living in fear.
As of the time of this report, Oba Akadiri is yet to address the town or the media on the matter.
