The Speaker, State of Osun House of Assembly, Hon Timothy Owoeye has urged Christians and Nigerians to take advantage of the celebration of the birth of Jesus to pray for the peace and the sustainability of Nigeria.
He also enjoined Nigerians to always strive to be role models, as Christ lived and died propagating the message of love, peace and true co-existence among mankind.
The Speaker in a Christmas message by his media aide, Kunle Alabi urged Christians to reflect and re-dedicate themselves to the teachings and lifestyle of Christ, which were anchored on sacrifice, love, peace and truth.
He stressed that at this point of Nigeria, everyone should seek God’s intervention in alleviating the economic hardship that Nigerians are going through.
Owoeye said: “The time we are in as a country presently calls for prayers. We must all ensure that we do all we can do as citizens and leaders to move the country forward from the present economic and security challenges facing our country.
“It is true that Nigerians are passing through a difficult economic phase in the history of the nation, we are in a situation that demands hardwork, divine intervention and concerted effort of the people coupled with love and sharing.
“At Christmas, people should not only engage in merry making, or relax with family members, it must also be a time to reach out to the less privileged in the society.
“I belief that it was for a purpose that this year’s Christmas falls on a Sunday. It is providential; so, let us make the best use of it. The times we are in call for prayers and the exercise of our faith in the Almighty God who rules in the affairs of men including our dear Nation,” the Speaker emphasised.
