My Life In Danger – Activist Supporting Obi Cries Out
Comrade Naheem Olaore, a civil rights activist, has said some criminal elements are targeting him for attacks for supporting the presidential candidate of Labour Party in the coming February 25, 2023 general elections, Mr. Peter Obi.
According to Olaore in an interview with OSUN DEFENDER, the said criminal elements have been trailing him around, saying he had escaped being attacked four times in Lagos and Osogbo.
Olaore said the assailants were obviously those being sponsored by the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to attack and main anybody associated with the ‘Obidient movement’.
The former Joint Campus Committee Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in the State of Osun said he escaped attack on February 12, 2023 when APC hoodlums unleashed terror on Obi’s supporters during a campaign at Lekki area of Lagos.
He said he was also at Surulere of Lagos with some other supporters of Labour Party when hoodlums attacked them on Thursday, March 16, 2023.
“I was beaten by the hoodlums and my phone android phone was stolen from me”, said the activist.
Olaore said he decided to return to Osun after that to maintain a low profile with his family.
“But I suspect that those who were attacking us in Lagos has connection in Osun because the following day I returned to Osogbo, some louts in black Toyota corolla car were following me from Abere down to my house at GRA”, he stated.
He continued: “They attempted to waylay me but I zoomed of and was shouting on top of my voice that some people wanted to kidnap me. It was then they made a U-Turn and fled. That was on Monday, March 19.
“I have also been receiving anonymous phone calls from people who threatened that they would kill me because I did not support a Yoruba presidential candidate during the last general election. They said I am a bastard who does not deserve to live among the Yorubas anymore.
“I am afraid that with the emergence of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the president-elect, these criminal elements will be more emboldened to carry out their attacks on perceived enemy. Is it a crime to support a candidate of your choice? We are in a democratic society and I am proud to declare that I belong to the ‘Obidients movement’.
“The Inspector General of Police and heads of other security agencies should please protect me and my family.”
