Osun Moves To Prevent Teenagers From Gambling
OSUN State House of Assembly has disclosed its readiness to regulate lottery and gaming in the state.
Speaker of the Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, indicated his intention to sponsor a private member bill titled: “The Osun State Lotteries and Gaming Bill 2023,” on the floor of the house on Tuesday.
In a letter read at plenary, Egbedun explained that the primary objective of the bill is to establish a robust regulatory framework that would govern lotteries and gaming activities within the state.
According to him, the bill aims to prevent underage participation, curtail addiction, uphold consumer protection and promote a responsible gaming environment in line with best practices.

“The Osun State Lotteries and Gaming Bill also proposes establishing an agency named ‘Osun State Lotteries and Gaming Commission’, which will have the authority to oversee the gaming industry in the state,” he said.
Egbedun added that the bill also seeks to harmonise existing laws on lotteries and gaming into a single comprehensive legal framework, as this would aid business activities in the gaming industry in the state.
