Napoli Coach Laments Over Victor Osimhen’s Injury Woes
The manager of Napoli, Rudi Garcia, has lamented over the injury woes of Victor Osimhen, noting that the Nigerian striker’s unavailability is a “big loss to the team”.
Recall that Victor Osimhen sustained a medium-grade biceps femoris lesion in his right thigh while away on international duty with the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Due to the injury, the 24-year-old Nigeria international will miss Napoli’s next games against Hellas Verona, Union Berlin (UEFA Champions League), and AC Milan.
Even though his team has other options up front, Garcia thinks that the loss of his best striker could make it more difficult for his team to win games.
Before the international break, the Serie A champions—who have only won four league games this season—lost to Real Madrid and Fiorentina; this losing run has put pressure on Garcia.
The reigning Italian Serie A champions are currently sitting in the fifth spot on the league table with 14 points in eight games.
In his reaction to Victor Osimhen’s injury setback, coach Garcia told La Gazzetta dello Sport that he and his coaching crew would have to find a solution to cover up for Osimhen’s absence.
“We need all our players fit and ready to play and Osimhen out is a big loss for the team,” he said.
“He is an important player to the team and we must find a solution in his absence.”
