Iyalode Of Yorubaland, Alaba Lawson Dies At 72
The Iyalode of Yorubaland, Chief Alaba Lawson is dead at the age of 72, OSUN DEFENDER gathered.
The news of her death was contained in a statement signed by the Executive Secretary, Abeokuta Chambers of Commerce and Industry ABEOCCIMA, AbdulRahman Maku.
The statement reads: “We regret to announce the demise of NACCIMA past president and ABEOCCIMA Matron/ Chairman, Board of Trustees, Iyalode Alaba Lawson MFR, F.IoD, JP (Iyalode Of Yorubaland) which occurred in the early hours of today, Saturday 28, 2023.
“Burial arrangement to be announced later by the family.
“May God almighty grant repose to soul of Iyalode (Amen)”
She was born Alaba Oluwaseun Lawson, on January 18, 1951), a Nigerian businesswoman, entrepreneur, educationist and the proprietress of Lawson Group of Schools Abeokuta.
Lawson was also until her death the Iyalode of Egbaland.
The revered title was bestowed on by Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi during the administration of Otunba Gbenga Daniel in Ogun State.
Chief Alaba Lawson was a past president of Abeokuta Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ABEOCCIMA) and NACCIMA.
