Fire Service Recovers Teenager’s Body, Others From Well In Kwara
The remains of an 18-year-old girl identified as Waliyah, has been recovered by the Kwara State Fire Service from a domestic well she fell into on Tuesday evening.
The service also said that it brought out the corpse of an unidentified 43-year-old man from Isale Odo Asa in Amilegbe area, Ilorin in Ilorin East Local Government Area of the state.
The fire service in a statement by its Head of Media and Publicity, Hassan Adekunle, said its men, while responding to an emergency rescue operation on Tuesday evening at Ile Olodo in Ita Merin/Alore area, lamented that it brought out the body of the girl dead.
“On November 7, 2023, at 18:46 hours, the Kwara State Fire Service responded to an emergency rescue operation in the Ile-olodo, Ita Merin-Alore area of Ilorin, Ilorin West Local Government Area, Kwara State.
“Tragically, an 18-year-old girl named Waliyah had drowned in a domestic well. The dedicated personnel of the Kwara State Fire Service successfully recovered her lifeless body and respectfully handed it over to Alhaji Adisa Akanbi Magaji of Ile Olodo, Ita-Merin, Ilorin.
“Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John, took this opportunity to stress the importance of safety consciousness to the general public.
“He issued a stern warning to parents and guardians, urging them to safeguard their children and refrain from sending them to fetch water from domestic wells. Safety should always be a top priority”, he counselled.
In another incident on Tuesday, the state fire service also recovered the body of an unidentified man from Asa River which passes through Ilorin metropolis.
“On Tuesday, November 7, 2023, the Kwara State Fire Service swiftly responded to a call in the Isale Asa Amilengbe area of Ilorin, Ilorin East Local Government, at 17:08 hours.
“The dedicated firemen exhibited their remarkable skills and successfully recovered the lifeless body of an unidentified man, approximately 43 years of age.
“The body was handed over to a team of police officers from the A” Division of the Nigeria Police Force in Ilorin.”
The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, John, emphasised the importance of safety and urged the general public to remain vigilant at all times.
