UNIOSUN Inaugurates Students’ Union Leaders
The management of Osun State University on Tuesday inaugurated the newly elected officers of the Students’ Union Executives and Legislative Council.
The inauguration ceremony took place at the university’s multipurpose hall, main campus, Osogbo.
Addressing the newly inaugurated executives and legislative council, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Odunayo Adebooye, encouraged them to always embrace dialogue whenever they have issues to clear with the management.
The Vice Chancellor promised that the management will always be available for engagements to resolve issues, urging the students’ union leaders to understand the university’s position on any policy before passing judgment.
Stressing the importance of responsible leadership in student unionism, he advised them to carefully consider the potential impact of their actions on the school system, including the consequences of closing down the school.
Dr. Juliana Akindele, the acting Dean of Student Affairs, congratulated the newly inaugurated executives and legislative council, reminded them of their duty to canvass for the welfare of the students.
Akindele urged the student leaders to be responsible, responsive, and efficient in carrying out their duties.
In his remarks at the event, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ademola Adeleke on Students’ Matters, Comrade Oladejo Basheer, advised the newly inaugurated students’ union leaders to follow the ethics of student unionism.
He pledged the support of the state government for the continuous smooth running of the University, wishing the newly inaugurated leaders a successful tenure of office.
