Adeleke’s Administration Worst In History, Only Out On Vindictive Mission Against Oyetola – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC), in Osun State has described the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the worst in the history of the state.
APC noted that Adeleke had nothing tangible to show for his one year in office, adding that the Governor was only out on a vindictive mission to reverse some of the policies of his predecessor, Gboyega Oyetola.
A statement by the state chairman of the APC, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, said Adeleke’s administration was built on falsehood to deceive the unsuspecting members of the public.
The party accused Adeleke of failing to honour his campaign promises of clearing the backlog of salaries of the government workers within 100 days in office and the mismanagement of the N9 billion Federal Government Palliative Fund.
Listing some of the reversal by the current administration, the APC chairman said, “In the health sector, 200 workers were sacked on his assumption of office; he recruited health workers without the needed advertisement; the recruited workers were sacked again by him, thereby wasting the meagre resources of the state.
“It is on record that Adeleke plundered and bastardized the education sector by increasing WAEC fee from N18,000 to N37,000 per student, sacking the Rector of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree without due process and replacing him with his unqualified kinsman, Kehinde Alabi.
“Reducing subventions due to tertiary institutions like Osun State College of Technology Esa-Oke and Osun State University. Increasing the school fees of UNIOSUN, sacking the management of Ilesa University without due process, sacking primary and secondary school teachers unduly.
“In the area of Budget and Finance, under Governor Adeleke, extra-budgetary spending since November last year without the approval of State Assembly has been the practice of his government; appropriation of state resources without budget approval from the state house of assembly; immoral allocation of N10billion to his office in the Supplementary Budget to take care of his comfort and expensive lifestyle; reduction of the budgetary allocations of key MDAs ( Education, health, UNIOSUN, Youths and Sports, Rural Development, Water Corporation, etc) in order to accommodate budget for the Office of the Governor and running of the administration without cabinet meeting.
“Other financial infractions committed by the Adeleke administration are Failure to account for the N2billion Federal Government palliative grant and N7billion Osun share of the savings from fuel subsidy removal and inability to provide the needed palliative measure for Osun citizens as against what obtains in other states. Besides 6,000 bags of rice provided by the Federal Government, Osun didn’t provide additional bags of rice.
“Adeleke with impunity engaged in constitutional rascality by illegally dissolving statutory boards ( OSSIEC, Judicial Service Commission, etc) without due process; appointed his Special Adviser as Chairman of Osun Independent Electoral Commission and also suspended the state Chief Judge, Justice Adepele Ojo, illegally.
“Adeleke dismissed over 1,500 teachers and 20,000 O’YES Cadets within the last one year of his infamous administration.”
But in a statement signed by his spokesperson Olawale Rasheed, the Governor declared that his administration surpassed the annual good governance target it set while assuming office.
The governor said, “When I assumed office, we had benchmarks and deliverables according to each sector. Our team sets milestones to achieve in health, education, infrastructures, ICT, agriculture, youth, and women, among others. I looked back and I can tell you we performed beyond our plans.
“The opposition APC is still nursing the wound of their electoral defeat. So, the party is ashamed to see the positive changes we are recording in the state. Our achievements are there for all to see.”
Giving a further account of his stewardship, Adeleke said, “In the road sector, we reconstructed a total of 90 kilometres of roads with another 45 kilometres ongoing. We completed key intercity roads like the Ikirun-Osogbo Road while the Iwo-Osogbo Road is ongoing. We completely rehabilitated 31 schools with another 31 in the pipeline. We built 332 water projects while major water works at Iwo, Ede, Osogbo, and Eko are under rehabilitation.
“We focused on the health sector through the Imole Medical Outreach, which provides immediate surgeries with over 50,000 beneficiaries so far. We address the welfare needs of doctors and we have selected 345 health centres in the state for complete rehabilitation.
“In science and technology, we introduced a digital economy agenda with new ICT and tech innovations policies. We developed a bill to domesticate the Nigeria Startup Act and launched programmes to deepen internet penetration of the state through broadband fiber optic projects.
“I reformed the public service by ensuring professionalism. I launched a phased payment of inherited pension and half salary debt. I just enrolled all pensioners in the health insurance scheme. We have done a lot in just under one year.”
