Osun Tennis Coach Involved In Alleged Sex Scandal Lands In Police Cell
A Lawn Tennis coach in Osun State, Mr. Yinka Akinrinade, who is allegedly involved in a sex scandal, has been arrested by the police, OSUN DEFENDER gathered.
OSUN DEFENDER had in its last edition reported that Akinrinade allegedly had the carnal knowledge of a 13 and 14 years old female trainees under him during a competition in Lagos.
The coach who claimed he was unconscious during the alleged act, said he met himself naked inside the girls’ hotel room after drinking alcoholic herb, stating that he didn’t know how he got to their room.
However, Akinrinade did not deny nor confirm raping the young girls.
According to findings, the 14-year-old trainee was confirmed pregnant a month after the incident.
OSUN DEFENDER reliably gathered that the coach was arrested at the weekend and detained at Dada Estate Police Station, Osogbo.
The parents of the victim were also invited by the police on Tuesday’s night to write a statement.
The medium also learnt that Akinriande had replied to a query issued to him by the Osun State Sports Council and his suspension letter is also ready.
Speaking with OSUN DEFENDER on Wednesday, the father of the pregnant teenage girl, Mr. Muniru Iwalewa, said about eight of Akinrinade’s family members besieged his house in the early hour of Wednesday to plead on behalf of the suspect.
Iwalewa said: “Yes, the coach has been arrested and detained at the Police station in Dada Estate. Some of his family members just left my place this morning to plead on his behalf. But I told them the matter is now with the state government.”
