The Supreme Court on Friday morning, dismissed the appeal filed by the All Progressives Congress candidate, Ovie Omo-Agege, challenging the election of Sheriff Oborevwori as Delta state governor.

A five-member panel of the apex court held that the former deputy senate president failed to prove the allegation of non-compliance with the Electoral Act during the conduct of the March 18 poll.

Omo-Agege, candidate Ken Pela of the Labour Party (LP) and Kenneth Gbagi of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) had filed separate petitions before the governorship tribunal after Oborevwori was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

However, all the appeals were dismissed by the tribunal.

The court of appeal also affirmed Oborevwori’s election.

Similarly, the Supreme Court dismissed the issues raised by
SDP’s Gbagi, noting that there is no “singular merit” in them.

The apex court also ruled that the appeal of LP’s Pela lacks merit and it was dismissed.
