Hoodlums Set Police Station, LG Secretariat Ablaze In Anambra
The Neni Police station as well as the headquarters of the Anaocha Local Government Area in Anambra state have been set ablaze by a gang of hoodlums numbering about 30.
The hoodlums, who were said to be armed to the teeth, stormed the area between 3 am and 4 am early Thursday and perpetrated havoc, according to sources.
One of the sources explained that the gangsters also whisked away some police operatives, including female police personnel at the police station.
The Anambra State Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, when contacted, stated that although the hoodlums attacked the police station with improvised explosive devices (IEDs), they however, did not take away any arms, and, did not whisky away any police personnel.
Ikenga said the hoodlums were successfully subdued by the superior firepower of the operatives who engaged them, thereby forcing them to flee.
The state police spokesman stated further that operations were still ongoing in the area, as at the time he was reacting to sad developments.
