One person has been confirmed dead, while about 600 people were displaced by a rainstorm that ravaged the Iloko-Ijesa community in the Oriade local government of Osun State.

OSUN DEFENDER reported in March that residents and traders of Iloko-Ijesa lost property worth millions of naira to heavy rainfall that wreaked havoc in the town.

Giving a report on the assessment of the damage on Wednesday, the National Emergency Management Agency, in a statement posted on its X handle, wrote, โ€œNEMA Southwest Zonal Office, in collaboration with Osun State SEMA and community leaders, assessed the rainstorm disaster in Iloko, Oriade LGA of Osun State.

โ€œThe team, led by AZC Olanrewaju Kazeem, was warmly received by Oba Akeem Ogungbangbe.

โ€œThe Oba and community leaders appreciated the quick response and briefed the team on the situation.

โ€œThe assessment revealed extensive damage, including property destruction, loss of livelihoods, and one fatality. Over a thousand people were affected, and 600 displaced.โ€
