American Arrested In ‘Attempt Coup’ In Congo
A white individual believed to be of American nationality was part of the assailants arrested by the armed forces of the Democratic Republic Congo (DRC) in an attempted coup ochestrated to overthrow the government of the country.
OSUN DEFENDER earlier reports that DRC military repelled an attempted coup d’etat involving the Congolese and foreign fighters on Sunday morning.
DRC army spokesperson, Sylvain Ekenge, made this known in a televised address on the state-run RTNC TV.
“An attempted coup d’etat has been put down by the defence and security forces. The attempt involved foreigners and Congolese. These foreigners and Congolese have been put out of action, including their leader,” Ekenge said.
Several suspects have been detained and the “situation is now under control,” according to Ekenge.
In a lot of videos posted on X.com and sighted by our correspondent, a white man who was said to be in possession of an American passport was among the suspects detained by the military.
The attempted coup was allegedly masterminded by one Christian Malanga who has now been arrested by the DRC military and presidential guard.
