Major streets in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, were deserted on Thursday morning as Nigerian youths begin the 10-day #EndBadGovernance Protest.

Osun Defender reporter who moved round the state capital this morning reports that major business areas like Ayetoro, Oja-Oba, Ogo-Oluwa, Jaleyemi, Aregbe were experiencing little traffic, which is unusual for a work day.

The situation, according to findings by the medium, was as a result of the palpable fear of the protests degenerating into a crisis.

There was a heavy deployment of security personnel in strategic locations like the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park where most protesters will be converging, as well as the popular Olaiya roundabout, which is a few metres away from the venue.

As of 9:15 a.m., when Osun Defender moved around the city, most shops and retail outlets remained shut due to fear of a breakout of violence.

While commercial banks have opened, it was gathered that bank officials were advised to wear mufti while security operatives were seen around the bank premises.

Osun Defender reliably gathered that most residents of the state are at home to monitor the situation before heading out to their various businesses.
