Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan, the 2022 world champion and world record holder in the women’s 100m hurdles, did not qualify for the final of the event at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Friday.

In her semifinal heat, Amusan finished in third place with a time of 12.55 seconds. This result placed her just outside the two automatic qualification spots for the final.

Despite finishing third, Amusan had hoped to advance to the final as one of the fastest losers.

Unfortunately, her time was not quick enough to secure her a spot in the last eight.

Earlier in the competition, Amusan had made a strong statement by winning her heat on Wednesday with an impressive time of 12.49 seconds, which allowed her to advance to the semifinals.

However, in the crucial semifinal race on Friday, she was unable to replicate or improve upon her earlier performance. This left her short of the final round.

Amusan, known for her world-record-breaking speed, faced stiff competition in her heat, which ultimately contributed to her narrow miss at the chance for Olympic glory.
