….As Ezekwesili, Others Demand Explanation From IGP, DSS

Former Education Minister, Oby Ezekwesili has urged the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Director General of the Department of State Services, Yusuf Bichi, to disclose the whereabouts of anonymous whistleblower, PIDONIGERIA.

Ezekwesili said the IGP or the DSS DG should explain to Nigerians why either of the agencies arrested the undercover journalist because they owe a duty to be transparent and accountable.

The disappearance of PIDOMNIGERIA was made public by a fellow undercover journalist, David Hundeyin.

However, Ezekwesili posted on her X page: “IG of @PoliceNG and DG of @OfficialDSSNG you have a duty of transparency and public accountability and must perform it.

“Public accountability mandates that Nigerians are duly informed about the whereabouts of Citizen-@PIDOMNIGERIA whose disappearance is raising serious concerns and fingers are pointing in your direction.

“You should by now have learnt how to avoid unconstitutional actions against citizens that can cause restiveness.

“Let the public know immediately why @PIDOMNIGERIA is in your custody.

“Release @PIDOMNIGERIA immediately to exercise his constitutional rights of reply against any allegations you have against him.”

Osun Defender recalls that the missing journalist
with the X handle 99% OPPRESSED’, sometimes in June accused the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi of a marriage scam with one Ms. Fagbule, US doctor .

According to the journalist, the Ooni scammed the US doctor of $180,000 after the latter expressed interest in building hospitals in some Southwest states in Nigeria.

The acclaimed investigative journalist alleged that the traditional ruler severed ties with the US doctor after he failed to invest as earlier agreed.

But the Director of Media and Public Affairs at the Ooni’s Palace, Moses Olafare, in a statement by on Thursday 18 July, 2024, refuted the allegations describing it as fake, untrue, and an unfounded allegation adopted as a character assassination tactic aimed at achieving cheap popularity.

“The news as posted by a Twitter (now X) handle called ‘99% OPPRESSED’ is fake, untrue, and an unfounded allegation adopted as a character assassination tactic aimed at achieving cheap popularity.”

The statement further clarified that the alleged Ms. Fagbule was never known to the Ooni for any interpersonal communication or relationship, let alone a marriage proposal.
