The Deputy Controller of Corrections at the Kirikiri Medium Custodial Facility, Lagos, DCC Micheal Anugwa, has revealed why the correctional service did not put popular crossdresser Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky, in the general cell where other male inmates are kept.

Osun Defender reports that popular influencer Martins Osei, also known as VeryDarkMan, had published a viral audio alleging that the crossdresser did not serve the six-month sentence ordered by the court after he was found guilty of naira abuse.

Addressing the House of Representatives Joint Committee probing the disturbing allegation of corruption against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Nigeria Correctional Services regarding the prosecution and incarceration of crossdresser Bobrisky, Anugwa said the celebrity was put in a private prison so as to prevent him from attack.

Anugwa said, “We didn’t put Bobrisky inside the general cell population because he has female features. If we had put him in the General Cell with the rest of the inmates, they would have killed him overnight.

“Kirikiri Prison is filled with lots of hardened convicts who were convicted or standing trial for sexually related offences, rapists, and even many convicted for sodomy.

“If anything had happened to Bobrisky, it would have been Nigerians who would start to query us.  His rights should be protected as a Nigerian,” the Correctional Service boss stated.
