A middle-aged man, identified as Olubunmi Johnson, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly setting his wife, Kikelomo, on fire.
The sad incident happened in their apartment on Fagbuyi Street, Ilogbo, in the Ota area of Ogun State.
An eyewitness said that the incident took place around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, following a domestic dispute.
The spokesperson for the state police command, Omolola Odutola, confirmed that Johnson has been detained in connection with the crime.
It was gathered that a neighbour who witnessed the incident alerted the victim’s relatives, who then informed the police about what is now being investigated as an attempted murder.

Odutola said police officers from the Ilogbo Division quickly took action, resulting in the arrest of the 55-year-old suspect.
“The husband doused his wife’s body with petrol and set her on fire with a match. Witnesses to the incident immediately rushed her to the hospital.
“Upon receiving the report, our detectives quickly took action and arrested the husband, who has since been detained.”
