How We Came Up With ₦75,000 As New Minimum Wage – Osun Govt
Sequel to the approval of a new minimum wage for its workers, Osun State Government has disclosed that the N75,000 minimum wage was the result of a detailed report submitted by the Public Service Negotiation Committee.
The negotiating committee comprised a 15-member team representing the government, led by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Kazeem Akinleye, and a 14-member labour delegation, headed by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Chairman, Comrade Christopher Arapasopo.
The team was tasked with formulating a new wage structure that balances the state’s economic realities with workers’ welfare needs.
This was stated in a statement issued on Wednesday by Kolapo Alimi, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment.
The statement noted that the new wage structure received the executive approval of Governor Ademola Adeleke after thorough deliberations and recommendations by the committee.
“The Governor Ademola Adeleke-led administration is deeply committed to prioritizing the welfare of civil servants, who tirelessly provide efficient, effective, and quality services to the state despite the limited resources accruing to it.”
Speaking further, the commissioner praised the negotiating committee for its dedication and collaboration in crafting a template that addresses workers’ needs while ensuring financial sustainability for the state.
He added that the approval underscores the government’s commitment to social justice, economic growth, and improved living standards for its citizens.

Governor Adeleke, following the approval, urged civil servants to enhance their service delivery by seeking innovative solutions and upholding transparency and accountability to drive the growth and development of the state.
Hon. Akinleye, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, lauded the Governor for his executive approval and emphasized that the committee carried out its duties without any hindrance from the government. He described the new wage structure as a product of mutual understanding and respect between the government and labor representatives.
On his part, the Head of Service, Mr. Ayanleye Aina, assured that Osun workers would continue to meet performance expectations, pledging their dedication to supporting the government’s development agenda.
Comrade Christopher Arapasopo, who led the labor team, expressed gratitude to the Adeleke administration for the ₦75,000 minimum wage. He described the agreement as carefully crafted to reflect the state’s current economic realities and emphasized its durability and sustainability.
“The new wage structure will ensure financial stability for all civil servants and improve their standard of living,” Arapasopo stated.
