1. Osun Health Professionals Harp On Ending FGM

The Osun State Government in Collaboration with a Non-Governmental Organisation, Action Health Incorporated, has organised a 3-day training programme for healthcare students in the state.

The training programme, tagged “Shaping Future Medics”, is focused on teaching the students about integrative approaches to the prevention of Female Genital Mutilation.

2. Four Nabbed For Raping Alm-Seeking Osun Minors

The Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, on Thursday, paraded a bricklayer based in Iwo, Ismail Ibrahim, and three others for allegedly raping two minors.

The other suspects paraded for the same office alongside the 30-year-old Ibrahim are Sadiq Opeyemi (30), Afeez Olalekan (26), and Abdulahi Garba (33).

3. Osun West Eyes APC Gov Ticket For 2026

The All Progressives Congress senatorial leader for Osun West, Mr. Adekunle Omolaoye, has emphasised that the district will push to secure the party’s governorship ticket for the 2026 Osun governorship election if former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola opts out of the race.

Oyetola, now Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, served as Osun State governor from 2018 to 2022 after defeating Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party.

However, he lost his reelection bid to Adeleke in 2022.

In an exclusive interview with The PUNCH, Omolaoye underscored that while Oyetola has the right of first refusal to the APC ticket, Osun West is prepared to stake a claim to it if he declines to run.
