Ibadan Stampede: Ex-Ooni’s Wife, Oriyomi Hamzat, Others to Appear in Court Today
The former wife of the Ooni of Ife, Naomi Silekunola, alongside Oriyomi Hamzat, owner of Agidigbo FM, and the principal of Islamic High School, Orita Basorun, Ibadan, Oyo State, Fasasi Abdulahi, are set to appear in court on Tuesday (today) over the tragic stampede which claimed the lives of over 35 children.
Meanwhile, the Oyo State Police Command has reportedly released five individuals initially arrested in connection with the incident.
Those released include Genesis Christopher (24), Tanimowo Moruf (52), Anisolaja Olabode (42), Idowu Ibrahim (35), and Abiola Oluwatimilehin (25), who reportedly regained their freedom on Monday.

A Facebook User, Alade Kolawole, who is an alumni of the school, confirmed the development in a post on Tuesday.
He wrote, “I regret to announce, with a heavy heart, that the Principal, Islamic High School Basorun Ibadan: Abdullah Fasasi will be charged to court today alongside Oriyomi and Naomi. Time is 9am at Iyaganku Court.
“We, however, take solace in the Yoruba philosophy that olódodo kò ní kú sí ipò ìkà. In sha Allah, our Principal shall be victorious.”
A source revealed that the arraignment of the remaining suspects, including Hamzat—who was allegedly arrested while receiving medical care—will proceed as scheduled.
