The Nigerian Police Force has summoned Pastor Abraham Daniel, a former minister at Dunamis International Gospel Centre, for questioning over several serious allegations, including cyberbullying, criminal defamation, and forgery.

This follows accusations from Daniel against Pastor Paul Enenche, the founder of the church, who allegedly reneged on a gentleman’s agreement and facilitated Daniel’s imprisonment on fabricated charges.

In an interview, Daniel accused Enenche of failing to honor an agreement to replace his damaged 2004 Corolla vehicle, which he claimed was caused by Enenche allegedly trailing him in 2020.

Daniel also accused Enenche of orchestrating his imprisonment after he left the church and criticized the pastor publicly.

The letter from the Nigeria Police, dated January 3, 2025, invited Daniel for an interview at the Force Intelligence Department (FID) in Abuja on January 7, 2025.

The letter included details of the charges against him, which include cyberbullying, criminal defamation, and giving false information, among others. Daniel was urged to bring his attorney with him.

“You are requested to report for an interview with the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Department (FID) through the undersigned, at SPO’s Room 212, 2nd Floor, Force Intelligence Department. “This request is made pursuant to the investigative powers conferred on the Police by the combined effect of Sections 214 and the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) and Section 4 of the Police Act and Regulations, 2020. Be informed that you are at liberty to come along with your attorney, please.”

Daniel’s allegations were that, after resigning from the church, he was falsely accused of embezzling church funds, leading to his imprisonment for three weeks.

He further claimed that Enenche had agreed to settle the issue out of court, promising to replace his car, which had been damaged when Enenche allegedly trailed him.

Daniel said, “It can be called a gentleman’s agreement. It was when we met at the FCID in order to withdraw the case, I brought my own (my conditions), they brought their own (their conditions too). It was a gentleman’s agreement, no lawyer, and nothing was drafted like a legal term. Their lawyer and the police that came to arrest me even met me at the scene of the accident.”

Daniel’s life was reportedly devastated by his time in prison, which led to the loss of his business and family and he also claimed that the church’s interference in his marriage led to his wife leaving with their five children.

He added, “There was a write-up I wrote that time (in 2020), because they were intervening in my marriage. My ex was always going to send them with my children and all of that. I told them to hands off of my family. So, I wrote that if anything happens to me or my children, they would be responsible.”

According to Daniel, the refusal of Enenche and the church to honor the agreement has made it difficult for his family to make ends meet, explaining that the car was the sole item he relied on to feed his five children.
