Tyson Fury, one of boxing’s most prominent figures, has officially announced his retirement, ending a career filled with memorable achievements and moments.

The announcement comes after back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk, the current undisputed heavyweight champion.

Fans had widely speculated about Fury’s next move, with discussions focusing on a potential third fight with Usyk or the long-awaited bout against Anthony Joshua.

However, Fury, known as the “Gypsy King,” has chosen to retire from the sport he dominated for over a decade.

In a short Instagram video posted on Monday afternoon, Fury addressed his fans directly, “Hi everybody, I’m going to make this short and sweet. I’d like to announce my retirement from boxing. It’s been a blast. I’ve loved every single minute of it. I’m going to end with this: Dick Turpin wore a mask. God bless everybody, see you on the other side.”

His video caption read, “Thanks, it’s been a blast ???? thanks to everyone who helped out along the way! Happy new year ????. Jesus is king ???? now & forever.”

Fury’s career began to face challenges after his first fight with Usyk in May 2024, where he suffered his first professional loss via split decision, relinquishing his undefeated record.

In a December 2024 rematch, Fury put up a strong fight but was ultimately defeated by unanimous decision.

The losses led to widespread discussions about Fury’s future, with many anticipating a blockbuster fight with Anthony Joshua.

Joshua himself had expressed enthusiasm for the matchup, saying at The Ring Magazine Awards last week, “It has to happen this year.”

Despite the mounting excitement for a showdown, Fury has decided to step away from the ring.

His retirement marks the end of a career filled with unforgettable fights, bold statements, and a commanding presence in the heavyweight division.
