Supporters Storm Ikeja To Welcome Impeached Lagos Speaker Obasa
Supporters of the impeached Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, gathered at the Speaker’s Lodge on Joel Ogunnaike Street, GRA Ikeja, Lagos, on Saturday morning.
The supporters, wearing pro-Obasa vests and caps, arrived in large numbers at the lodge.
Multiple sources revealed to Punch that they were preparing a “heroic welcome” for Obasa, who was recently removed from office by a majority of lawmakers.
Obasa, who was outside the country during his impeachment, was replaced by Mojisola Meranda, the former deputy speaker.

Meranda has presided over two sittings since Obasa’s removal, with the ex-speaker absent from both sessions.
Controversy surrounds the choice of the Speaker’s Lodge as the reception venue, as Obasa is no longer officially entitled to the property.
A resident remarked, “I didn’t expect that the lodge would be opened for them.”
Armed security personnel, including police officers, are present at the scene to maintain order.
