Ile-Ife, Modakeke Record First Rain In 2025
The ancient cities of Ile Ife and Modakeke in Osun State on Saturday recorded its first rain of the year, following a downpour in some areas of the towns.
The rain, which started around 7:15 p.m. in major areas in the two ancient cities, ended at exactly 7:40pm.
Areas that witnessed rainfall were Parakin, Eleyele, Ifedapo, Moremi, Iloro, Oke-Atan, Lagere, Mayfair, Campus and some areas of Modakeke, including Urban-day, Better life, Oke-D.O, Itaasin, among others.

The rain, which fell with a storm, was heavy in the affected areas, and there was no report of any destruction of property.
Speaking with OSUN DEFENDER, Mutohhir Abdulhamid, who resides in the Parakin area of Ile-Ife, described the rainfall as a welcome development and great relief.
He said, “I’m so happy to witness the first rainfall of the year. The weather has not been friendly for some time now. I believe this rain will usher in more favourable weather to all and sundry.”
The rain served as a signal to farmers to begin clearing their farmlands in preparation for planting crops.
