Music icon 2Baba, also known as Innocent Idibia, has proposed to Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru, but his decision not to kneel has sparked debate online.

A viral video that surfaced on Thursday shows the singer and Natasha dancing together as friends cheer them on.

Moments later, 2Baba presented her with a ring, and they shared a long embrace.

However, many viewers quickly noticed that he did not go down on one knee, a traditional gesture in modern proposals.

Social media has since been flooded with reactions, with many questioning why the singer remained standing.

Some argued that it was disrespectful, while others defended him, saying cultural differences or personal preferences could be a factor.

Another point of criticism was the timing of the proposal, with many accussing 2Baba of disregarding Annie Idibia’s feelings by moving on so publicly and so quickly.

Some claimed he showed no consideration for her emotions, especially given the recent separation.

31-year-old Natasha’s reaction during the proposal also drew attention as many noted that she appeared to “twitch,” comparing her composure to Annie Idibia’s and suggesting that hers might be even more pronounced.

Addressing the rumours about his relationship with Natasha, a day before the proposal, 2baba said on Instagram, “Allegedly, I have been seeing so many things, so many people coming up with their own false narratives and malicious nonsense after I posted that stuff that I posted. Yes, I posted what I posted.

“Hon. Natasha has been dragged, she has been called all sorts of names, she has been labelled as a home breaker.

“She is a young brilliant amazing woman and she had nothing to do with what is happening between me and Annie in our marriage.

“Yes I love her, she is amazing, she is cool, I want to marry her.”
