Eric Chelle Unveils Final 23-Man Super Eagles Squad For World Cup Qualifiers
Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has announced his final 23-man squad ahead of Nigeria’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
The list, released on Tuesday, includes a blend of experienced players and fresh faces, as Chelle prepares for his first competitive fixtures in charge of the three-time African champions.
Last week, the Franco-Malian tactician had unveiled an expanded provisional squad of 39 players, but he has now trimmed the selection to 23 who will battle for maximum points in the upcoming qualifiers.
The squad consists of three goalkeepers, six defenders, six midfielders, and seven forwards. As expected, top names like Victor Osimhen, Wilfred Ndidi, and Ademola Lookman made the cut, while promising talents such as Papa Daniel Mustapha and Tolu Arokodare have also been given the nod.
Goalkeepers: Amas Obasogie, Kayode Bankole, Stanley Nwabali.
Defenders: Bright Osayi-Samuel, Bruno Onyemaechi, Calvin Bassey, Ola Aina, Igoh Ogbu, William Troost-Ekong.
Midfielders: Alex Iwobi, Alhassan Yusuf, Joe Aribo, Papa Daniel Mustapha, Raphael Onyedika, Wilfred Ndidi.
Forwards: Ademola Lookman, Moses Simon, Nathan Tella, Sadiq Umar, Samuel Chukwueze, Tolu Arokodare, Victor Boniface, Victor Osimhen.
The Super Eagles will begin their World Cup qualifying campaign against Rwanda before facing Zimbabwe in what promises to be a stern test for Chelle and his team.
