Gaza Erupts In Protest As Residents Chant ‘Hamas Out’
A rare public protest erupted in northern Gaza as residents marched through the devastated streets of Beit Lahiya, chanting “Hamas out” in frustration over the prolonged war.
Social media videos showed demonstrators walking past destroyed buildings, carrying banners that read “Enough wars” and “We don’t want war.”
In one clip, protesters repeatedly shouted, “Out, out, out, Hamas get out.”
Reuters confirmed the location using satellite imagery but could not verify the date, though posts indicate the protest happened on March Tuesday.
Many displaced Palestinians had returned to northern Gaza following a January ceasefire, only for Israeli forces to resume operations on March 18.
The renewed fighting has killed nearly 700 people, mostly women and children, according to Palestinian health officials.
The war began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas attacked Israel, killing over 1,200 people and taking around 250 hostages.
Some captives were freed during the ceasefire before fighting resumed, with Israel vowing to eliminate Hamas.
Since taking control of Gaza in 2007, Hamas has suppressed opposition, leaving many Palestinians fearful of speaking out.
