Emir Bayero Cancels Eid-el-Fitr Celebration
The 15th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Bayero, has cancelled the Eid-el-Fitr Durbar celebration due to security concerns in the state.
Addressing journalists at his Nasarawa Mini Palace in Kano on Wednesday night, the monarch stated that ensuring peace and stability takes priority over the annual festival.
The Durbar celebration was initially planned to coincide with the Emir’s fifth anniversary on the throne.
However, following consultations with Islamic clerics, elders, stakeholders, and his council members, the decision was made to cancel the event.
Emir Bayero urged residents to use the Sallah period to visit family and friends while maintaining peace and harmony.
He also prayed for Allah’s blessings and mercy during the holy month of Ramadan.
