A police officer in Kaduna State, Hadaina Hussaini Dan-Taki, has issued a threat of reprisal attacks against southerners residing in northern Nigeria.

His statement follows the gruesome killing of 16 northerners in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State.

In a fiery Facebook post on Tuesday, Dan-Taki swore by Almighty God, warning that northerners would retaliate against southerners in response to the killings.

“I swear to Almighty God, we must do something for you guys. Have you forgotten all your brothers that are living here in the North? Mark my word, after one week, you shall see the result,” he wrote.

As criticism mounted over his remarks, Dan-Taki altered his first name and adjusted his Facebook privacy settings, restricting access to his posts and comments.

An X user identified as Uche, tweeting under the handle #UcheDIgboezeson, shared a screenshot of Dan-Taki’s post while tagging Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, urging him to take action. In response, Adejobi acknowledged the post, stating, “Noted for necessary action. Thanks.”

OSUN DEFENDER reported that authorities have arrested 14 suspects in connection with the murder of the hunters from Kano State in Uromi.

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, confirmed that the suspects have been transferred to Abuja for further investigation.

The tragic incident occurred last Thursday when the northerners, who were travelling to Kano for Sallah celebrations, were ambushed by a mob.

Their vehicle was searched, and weapons were found, leading to their brutal murder.

Governor Okpebholo strongly condemned the attack, describing it as unacceptable and vowing that all those involved would be brought to justice.
