Trending Stories In Osun Today
Osun State, the cradle of Yoruba heritage and a stronghold of cultural and political consciousness, has once again found itself at the centre of national attention. From the corridors of power to the royal palaces and the streets of activism, the state is witnessing a series of unfolding developments that continue to shape its political and social landscape.
As Nigeria battles with the weight of national concerns, Osun mirrors this tension through a mix of political drama, traditional institution rivalry, and the rising voice of youth-led movements.
In today’s trending stories, the political temperature in the state has soared, with heated allegations flying between the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) over a looming court judgement linked to the controversial local government chairmanship tussle. 1. LG Crisis: APC, Adeleke Bicker Over Pending Judgement
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of planning to procure a judgement from the State High Court, Ikirun, which will pave way for the elected local government chairmen under the Peoples Democratic Party to have access to the local government secretariats.
The APC while addressing the media on Sunday in Osogbo, said it has reliably gathered that it is the purchased order of mandamus from the pliable High Court judge in Ikirun which Governor Adeleke is banking on to enable the PDP chairmen enter the council.
A former Commissioner for Information in the state, Sunday Akere, said the judgement will be issued by one Justice I. O. Adeleke on 17th April, 2025, with a view to perverting the cause of justice and bringing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmen and hoodlums to the councils through the backdoor.

2. Stop Creating Discord — Adeleke Tasks Osun Traditional Rulers
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has charged traditional rulers in the State not to engage in actions that could cause acrimony.
This follows recent media clashes between the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi.
Adeleke, in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Sunday, described traditional rulers as symbols of harmony and mediators during crises; hence, they should not be involved in acts capable of causing discord in the state.
3. DSS Summons Osun TIB Movement Organising Secretary Over Monday Protest
The Department of State Services (DSS) in Osun State has invited the Organising Secretary of the state chapter of the Take It Back (TIB) Movement, Olasunkanmi Mary Oluwatosin, for questioning over the planned April 7 nationwide protest.
The Take-It-Back Movement has insisted that there is no going back on the scheduled nationwide protest set for Monday.
The protest, according to the group, aims to address what it describes as the “authoritarianism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, abuse of human rights, and the misuse of the Cybercrime Act.”
The protest is tagged: “Nationwide Protest Against Bad Governance and Suppression of Free Speech.”
However, a DSS official identified as Akin summoned Oluwatosin to the DSS office in Osogbo, the state capital, via a WhatsApp text message.
Oluwatosin told SaharaReporters on Sunday that the DSS operative called her on Saturday, requesting details about the planned protest.
She added that another unidentified number contacted her on Sunday, summoning her to the DSS office for a “chat.”
