From Cassava To Sky: TikToker Throws Party As First Woman To Board Plane In Her Community
A wave of jubilation swept through a rural community as popular TikTok personality, Gold Ike, also known as EveryDayWithGold, celebrated what she described as a “record-breaking” achievement — becoming the first woman in her village to board an aeroplane.
Known for her viral content centred around local food processing, particularly peeling cassava and producing garri, Gold Ike marked her milestone with a well-attended party on Sunday.
The event featured large servings of jollof rice, white rice and assorted traditional delicacies, shared freely among elated villagers who turned up in droves to felicitate with their now-famous daughter.
The celebration was marked by a boldly designed banner that read, ‘The first woman to enter a plane in my community’. Clad in traditional attire and beaming with pride, Gold Ike told her online followers via livestream: “I want to use this medium to thank everyone for appreciating the record I broke and the award I won. It was not easy. And I see all your nice comments, the love was massive. We all enjoyed ourselves yesterday. We merry and dined yesterday. Thank you all for celebrating me.”
Her historic flight took her from her unnamed rural location to Lagos State aboard Air Peace airline — her first-ever trip by air. She had travelled to Lagos for a paid gig, making it a double celebration for the skitmaker.
In her usual humorous style, she added: “It’s good to see what Lagos looks like. I’m all dressed and flying back to my community now. I didn’t finish my breakfast. And I’m glad I didn’t experience any traffic which could have made me miss my flight.”
