Sarkin Sasa’s Title Unknown To Ibadan Chieftaincy Law – Olubadan
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin has declared as null and void, the title of Sarkin Sasa in Akinyele local government area of Oyo State, saying the title is not recognised by the Ibadan Traditional Chieftaincy Law.
Olubadan made the declaration on Monday during the Olubadan-In-Council meeting held at his palace located at Oke Aremo in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The last bearer of the title, late Alhaji Haruna Maiyasin Katsina was the Chairman of the Council of Arewa Traditional Rulers in the 17 Southern States of Nigeria.
One of his sons, Ahmed Haruna (Ciroma) was unanimously nominated to succeed his father by the family and the traditional councils of the 17 Southern states without securing the consent of Olubadan.

In the place of the Sarki, the Chief Press Secretary to the Olubadan, Gbenga Ayoade, in a statement in Ibadan, on Tuesday, affirmed Chief Akinade Ajani Amusa as the recognised Baale of Sasa land and the accredited representative of the Olubadan of Ibadanland.
“Let it be noted that any individual or group of persons in Sasa land are under the authority of the Baale of Sasa land; Akinade Ajani. It is therefore imperative to accord him the appropriate respect and authority,” the statement said.
It further warned that, “Any disobedience to his directive will be met with serious sanctions as it will be considered an affront to the Olubadan stool.”
