National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has declared that the coalition being formed by opposition politicians, including Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai, and Aminu Tambuwal, is bound to fail ahead of the 2027 general election.

Speaking in Kaduna after leading an APC delegation to visit former President Muhammadu Buhari, Ganduje dismissed the alliance as a gathering of “strange bedfellows” whose interests are too conflicting to work.

“They have a joint venture which will not work. They are just some kind of particles that cannot come together,” Ganduje said.

He said the APC is not losing sleep over the coalition, adding that the ruling party is well-positioned to retain the presidency and win more states in 2027.

“We are comfortable ahead of 2027, but we are not resting on our oars, because it is politics and we are used to the game,” he stated.

He credited President Bola Tinubu’s performance so far for strengthening the APC and attracting defectors from other parties, including former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim, Senator Uche Ekwunife, Senator Shehu Sani, and Senator Ned Nwoko.

Ganduje also hinted that the party would soon release data to debunk allegations of lopsided appointments by the Tinubu administration.

Meanwhile, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma described the coalition talks as a “needless distraction,” warning opposition figures to focus on governance rather than early election plotting.

Also reacting, the Northern Conscience Movement (NCM) criticised El-Rufai’s recent praise for Atiku, calling it political opportunism and a betrayal of his past criticisms of the former Vice President.

NCM Coordinator Lawal Nuhu Ahmed urged Nigerians, especially the youth, to remain vigilant and not be swayed by inconsistent political alliances.

Sokoto PDP Chairman, Alhaji Bello Goronyo, however, said his party is strong enough to stand alone and does not need to merge with others to reclaim power.

“The PDP is the most deeply rooted party in Nigeria,” Goronyo said.
